At 2EYES we can provide for your medical eye care needs. When it comes to the health of the eyes, we take emergencies very seriously. Our ultimate goal is to prevent any vision loss and when possible, restore vision that has already been lost. When an eye problem does occur, please do not hesitate to schedule an appointment. With many eye conditions the longer you wait to be seen the worse the outcome will be.
What Should I Do…
If I get chemicals in my eye?
Immediately rinse the eyes with water or saline for at least 20 minutes. Remove contact lenses if worn. For severe burns call 911 otherwise, see your eye doctor immediately. If unable to go to your eye doctor, then go to an emergency room. Continue flushing the eye with water until medical care is received.
If I Get something stuck in my eye?
First, try to blink it out. Next, try to flush it out using saline or water. If the object remains in your eye, then avoid rubbing the eye and seek medical attention. The longer you wait to have the object removed, the higher the chance of infection and other problems. Your eye doctor will be able to numb your eye and remove the object. Once the object is removed, many patients will heal completely in 24-48 hours.
If I See new flashes and floaters?
Flashes and floaters can be the presenting signs of many conditions. Fortunately, most flashes and floaters are not caused by a serious problem. However, flashes and floaters can be a symptom of retinal tears, detachments, growths and bleeding in the eye. These conditions are emergencies and for this reason it is extremely important to get a complete eye exam if new flashes and floaters occur.
If I have sudden Blurry or Distorted Vision
Sudden changes in vision can be signs of numerous ocular problems. Gradual vision changes are expected, but sudden changes are indicative of eye disease. A complete eye exam is the only way to determine why your vision has suddenly changed.
If I think I have Pink Eye?
Conjunctivitis or pink eye can be very contagious, so the first thing to do is wash your hands and be careful not to spread it. This includes being careful not to spread it to your other eye. If you have been wearing contacts, then the pink eye is probably due to the contacts, not an infection, so remove the contacts immediately. To properly diagnose and treat your pink eye, see your eye doctor.
If my eye gets scratched?
A scratched eye is very painful and can lead to an infection. See your eye doctor as soon as possible to receive proper treatment. Often times we will use a bandage to allow the cut to heal and provide comfort from the pain. We will also treat the scratch with eye drops to prevent any infection from occurring.
If I get hit in the eye?
Blunt trauma to the eye can lead to damage to the inside of the eye. An exam with your eye doctor would rule out any damage that may have occurred. If you begin to experience flashes, floaters or light sensitivity, then damage may have occurred so you should immediately see your eye doctor to receive treatment.
If my vision goes black?
When vision goes black it is most commonly due to decreased blood flow to the eye. If it occurs for just a few seconds then it may just be from a change in posture. If it lasts for more than a minute then it is important to speak with your doctor. Blackouts can be a sign of an upcoming stroke or other problems.
